Track 7: Gaia's Poem by Kat the Babysitter

Listen now (1 min) : Sounds from a wild life of the domesticated self.

To know Gaia, my daughter, is to know the depths of my own heart.

In a decision that surprised even me, I surrendered to her request to domesticate myself.

One day at a time, Gaia taught me the wild act of making a home.

How to long for the quiet rhythms that grant us the purposeful belonging to each other we so deeply crave.

So that my affection was firmly placed in the very purpose of my presence.

That I might finally command my legacy of eternal devotion to my own heart.

Track 7 is a poem written in the winter of 2019 by Gaia’s babysitter, Kat, which captures the spirit of my daughter, Gaia.
